Aimed at 4-6 year olds, the initiative aims to provide children from in and around the Hasland area the opportunity to play football and have fun with their friends.
FUNdamentals is the overall theme of the Mini Kickers programme and children are taught the very basics of the game in a FUN way - this includes controlling the ball, shooting, passing and dribbling. Ultimately, it gets them active.
The sessions cost £4 on a pay-as-you-play basis and take place on Monday nights between 6 and 7pm. During the summer months sessions take place on Eastwood Park, Hasland. During the winter, sessions take place at Hasland Hall Community School - either in the sports hall or on the astro turf pitches.
By having a number of dedicated coaches, the Mini Kickers Team is able to split attendees based on age. What this means is that the youngest kids, aged four, have a dedicated coach and session plan. The same applies to the five-year-olds and the older children, aged six, train separately as part of the U7 Development Squads.
This means that the youngsters play with children of the same age and ability, enabling them to develop their skills quicker and have even more fun.
It is the club's intention to provide a pathway for young players - with Mini Kickers being the start of this journey. Kids can join the programme at 4-years-old before forming part of the aforementioned U7 Development Squads that come together, a year early, to train ahead of their first season as Under 7s.
Boys and girls of all abilities, from all backgrounds, are welcome at Mini Kickers. For more information, or if you'd like your child to get involved, message us on Facebook (Hasland Community FC) or email media@haslandcfc.co.uk.
